3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men!” In our Gospel reading this weekend, Jesus calls Simon and Andrew from the shore and gives them this great mission, to become “fishers of men.” How great would it be for God to call you to a specific vocation? How often do we call upon the Lord with that exact intention in mind?

The Lord calls each one of us to a specific vocation of living. We are all called to holiness, but we are all also called to either the vocation of Married life, a religious vocation, or the Consecrated virginity. The Lord will bless whichever of those vocations we choose as long as we share the love that he offers to us the best that we are able to through that chosen vocation.

The next time that you are faced with a fork in the road, seek the Lord’s guidance, and ask yourself which direction will help you to best embrace, and share God’s love. If both are equal, no matter which you choose, the Lord will bless that decision. The Lord loves us so much that He gives us free will to live as we choose, but He does so with the intention of having us choose the best loving decision possible!
