23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

In this weekend’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us through the Gospel of Matthew that, “where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” This proclamation and promise from Jesus is reinforced when, just prior to His Ascension to heaven, He promised to be with us to the end of the age. Jesus’ love for us is eternal and everlasting, and there is nothing that we can do to lessen His love for us, or for another, except to turn away from it and reject it. But even when we reject the love of God, He is still offering it to us, and will always welcome us back to reconciliation if we only repent and turn from our sinful ways!

This last Wednesday, we had the opportunity to participate in a communal “Teaching Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.” The intent behind this lesson was to inform, invite, and encourage the members of our parish to seek a deeper understanding and relationship of Christ truly present in the Eucharist. Every week, we have offered Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament with the Eucharist exposed in the monstrance twice a week, Thursday from 4:15-5:15 at Queen of All Saints in Sayre and Fridays from 11:00-12:00 at St. Matthew’s with the Sacrament of Reconciliation offered during this time of silent prayer.

Beginning this Wednesday, we are seeking to add another weekly opportunity of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament to enhance our opportunities on a weekly basis to spend some time resting in the peace of Christ! Starting this Wednesday, we will offer from 5:00-6:00pm in the Church at St. Matthew’s Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on a weekly basis. This will allow an additional opportunity for those already attending this great prayer opportunity, but also a different day and time for those whose schedules may not allow with our current two others times that are currently being offered
to spend in prayer.
